In the previous review of the graphical desktop sharing system we brought together the computers running Windows XP Home and Ubuntu OS without any problems. It is time to make friends these OS with the Mac one. (This is the addition to the last article especially for the few users of Mac OS.)
Let us start with the desktop connection MacPC. Open the setup menu:
In the section "Internet and Networking" we select "Sharing":
In the menu that opens, tick the box marked "Apple Remote Desktop":
Immediately after this we can see a window with Remote Desktop settings:
Settings are quite extensive, but everything is turned off by default. Tick the box marked in its sole discretion, and click "OK".
After this the connection procedure is the same as described earlier: using any VNC Viewer we connect to Mac desktop:
I did it with Win XP Home using TightVNC Viewer without any problems, everything as with any other operating system.
You will need the third-party utilities for connection to Mac OS X 10,4. However, the problem is not difficult; the decision is directly on the Apple’s website - JollysFastVNC:
Download a file that contains everything you need:
Once the executable file is launched we can see the main window with all options:
As shown in the picture, you should press the button with a plus and the new string with the server is added in the list. Now we enter the settings for a new server:
IP-address of the server is the most important option here. Other settings can be unchanged. Then click "Connect" button:
The viewer is integrated directly into the system for new version of Mac OS. To use it you need activate Finder and in the menu "Go" select "Connect to remote server":
In the dialogue box you should enter the IP-address of server you want to connect:
Do not forget to write "vnc://" before the address. You will be asked a password to connect:
The remote desktop will be immediately available for you if the password is correct:
